On August 17, the Russian adviser-ambassador’ statement in Armenia gave rise to the need for additional comments and clarifications regarding the new Lachin corridor, in connection with which a meeting will be held with the command of the Russian peacekeeping troops. Metaxe Hakobyan, a member of the Artsakh "Ardarutyun" party member of the National Assembly of Armenia, said this in a conversation with Radar Armenia.
"First of all, it is necessary to determine what the final readiness of the new Lachin corridor means. According to the envoy, the Russian peacekeepers will not move a single centimeter until the new road is ready. In that case, it is necessary to find out why Armenian people are being evacuated from Berdzor, Aghavno, and Sus. It is also necessary to clarify whether there is a clear project for a new road from the city of Stepanakert to the RA border and, if there is, who agreed and signed this project because this is considered in fulfillment of point 6 of the 2020 statement, which was signed by the heads of the three states," says the Artsakh NA deputy, clarifying what issues will be discussed with the command of the Russian peacekeeping troops.
Hakobyan says the most important thing is to find out if the issue of communications is also included in the project: electricity, gas, means of communication, and under what legal regime will the road be launched?
