TRIPP is also the unblocking of Iran, under US control. Gandaharian

Radar Armenia's interlocutor is international affairs expert Shahan Gandaharian.

- How would you comment on the events in Iran?

- The internal link is in a continuous chain. After receiving external blows, Iran is now facing serious internal problems. These are interconnected. Internal discontent is associated with the economic crisis and acute social issues. And this is the result of the tightening of the sanctions policy.

- Is the situation in Iran under the control of the current government, has it calmed down, or not?

- The situation has not completely calmed down. The information is incomplete, and it's hard to imagine what happened. Such events have precedents, which were soon brought under control. The difference this time is that the events occur after fatal external blows, which encourages the opposition to take to the streets more boldly.

- Were there any Iran-US agreements, and is it possible to expect an American strike?

- Until two days ago, the events were talking about the immediacy of American strikes. When Trump said that he had been informed that the killings had stopped and that the death penalty would not be carried out, it was already a prelude that the strikes were at least being postponed. It is not excluded that there will be statements about striking again or appropriate preparations. This depends on the ups and downs of the negotiations with the US.

- Will a change of government be possible in Iran?

- I do not think that a change of government is a goal. The goal is to redefine Iran's role and, in this regard, to implement a radical policy change.

- One of the most important events of the past week was the announcement about TRIPP. How would you interpret this?

- Yes, in those heated conditions, the delegation led by the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister was discussing the lifting of the blockade agenda with representatives of the relevant departments in Yerevan, including all the possibilities of TRIPP. It was noteworthy that he made positive statements about it.

- Is the implementation of TRIPP also beneficial to regional powers, and will they try to hinder it in any way? How would you assess the reactions in this regard?

- TRIPP is, in fact, a geopolitical turning point in the region. It is the transformation of "November 9" into "August 8". This trend will continue. And from the Iranian perspective, TRIPP is also the lifting of the blockade of Iran under American control.

- In your opinion, when can TRIPP be seen in action?

- It depends mainly on American haste, stops, or slowness. In this case, Washington also specifies the rules.
