The Armenian government has published several documents related to the negotiation process for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which provide insight into the content of negotiations conducted until 2020.
Radar Armenia spoke to lawyer Artashes Khalatyan on the topic.
-What is your impression of this negotiation package?
-The documents express the general political logic that has existed in the negotiation process for about 30 years; in fact, they expressed the political beliefs of supporters of the status quo, who did not aim to resolve the conflict, but tried to transfer political responsibility from one administration to another and avoid making final political decisions. It is clear that no action was taken to prevent the Russian-Azerbaijani rapprochement, and our military industry was not diversified amid Russia's billions of dollars in arms sales to Azerbaijan. These documents came to confirm the fact that the Armenian government, since 1998, has not taken any serious steps to improve the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process and bring a beneficial solution to Armenia.
-The opposition claims that some information is distorted. What do you say about this?
-In essence, the opposition is again avoiding discussions: if they make such accusations, then they should at least present valid documents, if these are invalid. The three presidents, as persons carrying state secrets, will naturally have copies, albeit with certain restrictions. But if their teammates are leaking them, they should at least provide verbal information about these documents; otherwise, this is just manipulation and ineffective self-defense.
