Radar Armenia’s interlocutor is Norwegian musician, singer, violinist, and composer Alexander Rybak.
-Are you familiar with Armenian music or culture? How did you decide to visit the Armenian audience?
-As a classical violinist, one of my favorite composers has always been Khachaturian. I often listen to “Sword Dance” and his famous waltz. Charles Aznavour also has Armenian roots, doesn’t he? His voice has always touched my heart. Honestly, I just decided that it was time to meet my fans all over the world, and, of course, Armenia was one of the countries I wanted to visit. I don’t have a massive army of fans there, but my Armenian fans are very supportive, and I wanted to come and sing for them.
-You have had concerts in many countries around the world. What similarities and differences can you identify in communicating with audiences from different countries, and in this regard, which country or city has made the most significant impression on you?
-Of course, some countries are noisier or quieter than others (Finland is especially supportive). But I know many Armenians in Los Angeles, and I know that you listen to music with all your heart.
-What are your expectations from the Armenian audience? Is there anything special for you that you would like to see here?
-My primary goal is to perform, and if I have time, I may also see the sights and beautiful architecture of your capital.
-What can the Armenian audience expect from your concert? Will there be any surprises?
-It is a very unique concert, because it is a combination of singing together in an intimate hall and then meeting face-to-face with the audience individually. Yes, it will take a lot of time, but it is worth it. But this concert will be exciting, because it is my first candle concert, thanks to CandleNight. It will be an exhilarating experience.
-Are there any projects or genres in which you would like to try yourself, and are you thinking about new collaborations with Armenian musicians?
-One of the most soulful duets was with my beloved Sirusho. You can feel the Armenian soul in our song.
-Can you share with the Armenian audience your plans? Are there any new concerts already planned?
-After a break of several years, I am working on an album. So stay tuned for news. But first, a meet-and-greet and candles in Armenia.
