Interview

"Israel is the strong side and will never yield to Hezbollah." Chernomoryan

Radar Armenia's interlocutor is Artyom Chernamoryan, editor-in-chief of Israel Armenians newspaper and president of the Petah Tikva "Nairi" union.

- On Sunday, the Lebanese "Hezbollah" movement subjected Israel, including Tel Aviv, to a massive rocket attack. What is the current situation in the country?

- Yes, a massive rocket attack took place in the center of the country, where about 3000 Armenians live. We came under heavy shelling. Rockets fell even on Petah Tikva, the most Armenian town in the center of the country, where about 1000 Armenians live. As a result of the shelling, 6 people were injured. Fortunately, there are no Armenians among the wounded.

- "Hezbollah" reported that it fired high-precision missiles at Tel Aviv and two nearby military facilities. Is this information accurate, and if so, what were the consequences of the strikes on the military facilities?

- I cannot confirm the attack on Tel Aviv military bases because when the bases are attacked, we learn about it 1-2 days later. There is indeed military censorship, but people take pictures on the street and immediately show them on Telegram or television. So, if there were such a thing, we would understand that "Hezbollah" hit military bases in Tel Aviv. They have tried doing it for months, but it doesn't work. They mainly target the civilian population. They more successfully target Israeli military bases in the north, which are closer to the border and have good information about where they are located with their UAVs. However, knowing this information does not mean that they are hurt. They hit passing tanks with small-caliber missiles from close range or use Russian-made "Korner" systems. As for precision hits on military bases, "Hezbollah" once managed to hit the side of the David Ben-Gurion airport runway. Israel destroys 90% of their rockets and 80% of their anti-aircraft missiles.

- Is it likely that the war will eventually stop?

- Now, there is a temporary ceasefire. Today, there were no alarms in the north of the country. There is a temporary establishment of peace. It is not permanent. I consider it wrong to sign a contract with terrorists because these people have never kept their word. I should mention that both "Hezbollah" and Israel want to get that peace on terms favorable to them. Of course, Israel is the firm side and will never yield to "Hezbollah." Giving place to the urgings of France and the USA, they will make some concessions, but they will not withdraw the troops from Lebanon for the time being.
