"It is possible that the results of the Georgian elections will heat the competition in Armenia." Gantaharyan

The interlocutor of Radar Armenia is Shahan Gantaharyan, an international scholar.

- How do you assess the situation in Georgia before the parliamentary elections? What predictions do you have regarding the results of the polls?

It is difficult to make clear predictions because there is no data from subjective questionnaires. There is an impression that competing forces are close. Mass gatherings to continue the path to the EU are impressive. However, the voting results are not determined by the number of rallies.

- What developments can happen in the region if the Georgian opposition does not win and the current government continues to rule the country?

- There will be drastic breakthrough changes. For some time, the situation will be as it is now. However, it depends on the result whether 3+3 will work fully or not. Even if the parliamentary majority is restored, the West will not relinquish its intention to form spheres of influence in Georgia.

- Are these elections important for the development of EU-Armenia relations? If so, why?

- Regarding 3+3, yes. If the pro-Europeans win, that trend, as a general train, can move towards us. Otherwise, the struggle in both directions will cause sharper competition in our country.

- To what extent is the fact that Armenia is a member of EAEU and CSTO an obstacle to EU and visa liberalization?

The visa liberalization process has started without requiring withdrawal from the CSTO. Let's remember that our membership in that structure was de facto frozen. This issue can be seen more clearly within the framework of the effects of the elections in Georgia to be recorded in Armenia.
