Euro 2024: The Spanish team did not give Italy a chance

The central match of the second round of the group stage of the European Championship took place at the "Veltins Arena" stadium in Gelsenkirchen, where the teams of Spain and Italy met.

Since the opening minutes, the Spanish team launched more dangerous attacks and had a territorial advantage. However, the Italian defense, led by experienced goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, remained strong. Throughout the first half, Spain continued to attack while Italy focused on defending and attempting to capitalize on counterattacks. Despite Spain's efforts, no goals were scored in the first 45 minutes.

After the break, nothing changed on the field except for the goal change. The Spaniards continued to "go after the goal," and it did not take long. In the 55th minute, the ball pushed back by Donnarumma hit Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori and ended up in the net, 1:0.

The reigning European champion tried to correct the situation in the middle of the second half. Still, the Spaniards' shots were sharper and more accurate, and even when Donnarumma was powerless, the goalpost came to the rescue. At the end of the match, Luciano Spalletti's students were active and tried to save the game, but in vain.

The Spanish team, which created many scoring moments until the last seconds, won by a small score, thanks to an opponent's own goal, but deservedly earned 3 points. In the last match of the group round of the European Championship, the Spaniards' opponent was the team of Albania, while the team of Italy had to try to beat the team of Croatia.
