What Spain is like at Christmas and New Year's

In Spain, Christmas (Navidad) and New Year (Año Nuevo) are celebrated with warmth, family gatherings, and unique traditions. The festivities here begin in early December and continue until mid-January, creating a festive atmosphere in the cities.

Christmas in Spain begins on the evening of December 24th. Families gather around the table. Unlike in many countries, children in Spain do not receive presents on December 25th. Instead, the main gifts are distributed on January 6th, the day of Reyes Magos (Three Kings), when parades are held in the streets, and children write letters to the kings.
