American rapper Snoop Dogg has been named Team USA’s “coach of the year” for next year’s Winter Olympics.
Snoop Dogg posted on LinkedIn his new role, titled “Coach Snoop, Team USA.”
The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) said the 54-year-old artist will take on “a volunteer role to support and celebrate American athletes outside of the competition.”
He will join a vast network of USOPC staff, coaches, medical professionals, administrators, and partners who help Team USA athletes pursue their dreams and inspire their country.
The Winter Games will be held in Milan and Cortina, Italy, from February 6-22.
The USOPC said Snoop Dogg will use his “unique sense of humor and compassion” to motivate and inspire American athletes.
Snoop Dogg added, “This team represents the best of what sports can be: talent, heart, and hard work. If I can add a little love and motivation to that, that’s a win for me.”
