The first official canvas depicting the 1977 film "Star Wars" has been sold at a record price of $3.875 million at Heritage Auctions in the United States.
Renowned poster artist Tom Jung created the painting, which first appeared in newspapers two weeks before the film's premiere. The work had been kept by the family of the film's producer, Gary Kurtz, who put it up for auction.
The sale became the most expensive piece of Star Wars memorabilia in history, surpassing even the $3.6 million sale of Darth Vader's lightsaber.
