The traditional Santa Claus Run was held for the 17th time in the German city of Michendorf. It took place the day after St. Nicholas Day, the day after Santa Claus, the prototype of Santa Claus, and the German equivalent of Father Christmas.
Around 1,000 participants from all over Germany wore Santa Claus costumes and ran 2.5, 5, or 10 km. A separate 1 km run was also organized for children. Participants were allowed to wear red and white hats and suits.
