American rapper Eminem has filed a lawsuit against Australian swimwear company Swim Shady, claiming that its name is too similar to his rap alias Slim Shady.
The 53-year-old rapper rose to fame in 2000 with the release of his hit single The Real Slim Shady, which earned him a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
The brand sells beach umbrellas, swim bags, and other beach accessories.
Earlier this year, the brand applied for registration in the United States, which was approved. Shortly after, Eminem's team filed a motion to cancel the trademark.
Court documents show that Eminem registered the name "Slim Shady" as a trademark in 1999, coinciding with the release of his album of the same name.
