SpaceX, the world's largest and most powerful rocket, is about to get even more advanced. On October 13, the company completed the 11th test flight of its Starship mega-rocket, lifting off from Starbase in southern Texas.
During the flight, Starship re-ignited one of its engines in space and launched eight test payloads. The test was notable for being the final flight of the second version of Starship, V2. SpaceX said it is now focusing on the next generation of Starship and Super Heavy. The next version, Starship Version 3, will be about 5 feet taller than its predecessor. It will look almost the same, but it will have significant internal changes.
SpaceX's Starship program is moving toward its ultimate goal of creating a fully reusable rocket system that will serve not only Earth orbit, but also the Moon, Mars, and, in the future, more distant planets.
