Meta, the owner of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has unveiled a new generation of smart glasses powered by artificial intelligence at its annual Meta Connect conference.
Mark Zuckerberg, taking the stage at the company’s headquarters in California, announced a partnership with world-famous brands Ray-Ban and Oakley. One of the new models is the Meta Ray-Ban Display model, with a high-resolution built-in screen that allows users to make video calls and receive messages directly through the glasses. It also has a 12-megapixel camera. In addition, a neuro-bracelet was introduced that works in conjunction with the glasses, allowing you to send messages or perform other actions with simple hand movements.
Meta’s business successes are overshadowed by public pressure. Parents and activists gathered in front of the company’s headquarters in New York to demand stricter protection for children on social networks. A few days ago, former employees testified in the US Senate that Meta hid potential harms that could arise from VR products for children. The company called all the allegations “absurd.”
