In Kendal, Cumbria, England, scientists have reconstructed the face of a nearly 900-year-old woman whose skull was discovered in the courtyard of Holy Trinity Church in 2022. Fourteen bodies were found in the area, one of which had a relatively well-preserved skull.
Scientists have provisionally named her the “Kendall Lady.” Studies have shown that she lived a hard life; her bones and teeth indicate a poor diet. Her complexion reveals sun-bleached skin, suggesting that she worked outdoors for many years. She was buried without a coffin in an unassuming place, which also confirms her modest status.
