Mars is known as the Red Planet, but under the right cosmic conditions, its sky can glow green. And now scientists believe they have predicted this unique phenomenon for the first time. Auroras are created when charged particles ejected from the Sun collide with the planet's atmosphere. On Earth, the magnetic field directs them towards the poles, causing the famous northern lights and southern lights. But Mars has long lost its global magnetic field, which is why its entire night sky can suddenly glow green.
