Scientists discover hidden supermassive black holes from the era of the Sun's origin

Astronomers have discovered for the first time supermassive black holes shrouded in thick clouds of dust in the early universe, during the so-called Cosmic Dawn. The research, conducted by a collaboration between Japan's Subaru Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), found seven quasars (radio emission sources) that existed when the universe was less than a billion years old.
