When the sun's core runs out of hydrogen, the sun will no longer be able to produce energy through nuclear fusion, as it does today. Many believe that this will be the end of the solar system, but in fact, it could be the beginning of a new life for the objects around us. When such stars die, they enter the red giant phase: the star's radius increases, the color becomes reddish, and some of its outer layers are released into space, leaving behind a white dwarf, a small but very dense stellar remnant. In 2020, a University of Wisconsin astronomer and his team discovered the first complete planet around a white dwarf.
