Warner Bros. and DC Studios have officially confirmed a direct sequel to this year's James Gunn-directed film about Superman. The film is titled Man of Tomorrow and is scheduled to hit the big screen on July 9, 2027. The new movie will reprise David Kornsweet's role as the Last Son of Krypton, while Nicholas Hoult will return as Lex Luthor. Under Gunn's direction, this will be the second chapter in the Superman Saga.
The film's trailer was accompanied by an illustration by DC's Jim Lee: in the image, Luthor is wearing his legendary green-and-purple armored suit, while Superman leans on his shoulder with a slight smile, holding a screwdriver in his hand. This armor has been featured in comics and animation for more than 40 years, but it will make its live-action debut for the first time.
The title, "Man of Tomorrow," is a nod to Superman's 1930s origins. It has long been associated with the hero's image as a symbol of hope, progress, and the future. The new film will hit theaters a year after "Supergirl," which is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026.
