The funeral of Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani took place on Monday in the medieval village of Rivalta, about 100 kilometers south of Milan. As reported by AFP, the town was closed for the occasion.
According to the local daily "Libertà", the ceremony was held in a strictly private format, at the designer's request. About sixty people were present.
The funeral took place in the small church of San Martino in Rivalta, located in the Trebbia Valley. The designer spent part of his childhood in this very village.
Armani regularly visited Rivalta, located just a few kilometers from Piacenza, his birthplace (1934).
The Giorgio Armani company told AFP that the group's stores would be closed from 3:00 p.m. on Monday until the end of the day as a sign of mourning.
