Possible portrait of Shakespeare's secret 'beautiful youth' discovered in England

A newly discovered miniature portrait by Elizabethan master Nicholas Hilliard may be related to the mysterious character in William Shakespeare’s sonnets, the “beautiful youth.” Art historians have discovered a rare miniature depicting a young man with long hair.

Researchers believe it is the earliest known depiction of Henry Wriothesley, 3rd Earl of Southampton, Shakespeare’s close friend and patron.
