Summer in Italy: the best destinations

Italy remains one of the world's most popular summer destinations. According to the Italian National Tourist Agency (ENIT), more than 27 million tourists are expected this summer. This year, the number of visitors has increased by 18% compared to last year. The most visited regions are Sicily, Tuscany, and Campania.

One of the most famous beaches in Sicily is Isola Bella, on a small island near Taormina. Here, you can visit the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento, where ancient Greek temples have been preserved and are registered with UNESCO. Nature lovers are recommended to visit Scala dei Turchi, a coastal area featuring white limestone cliffs. Another destination worthy of attention is the Sicilian capital, Palermo, where culture, architecture, and cuisine merge East and West. Here you can visit the Royal Palace of Palermo (Palazzo dei Normanni). Palermo is also suitable for those seeking Armenian identity: the Armenian Catholic Church of St. Mary of Egypt operates here, and Armenian immigrants have had an essential place in the city's history since the Middle Ages.
