The world's oldest boomerang, 42,000 years old, has been discovered

A new study of a boomerang found in Poland suggests it could be up to 42,000 years old, making it the oldest known boomerang in the world. The discovery sheds new light on the technological skills of our ancestors, writes the BBC.

The boomerang was discovered in 1985 in the Obłazówa Cave in the Carpathian Mountains in southern Poland. Initial estimates put its age at around 30,000 years. However, new radiocarbon dating suggests it could be between 39,000 and 42,000 years old.

The boomerang is made from mammoth tusk and is remarkably well-crafted.
