David Beckham to be knighted

Former footballer David Beckham has finally been named in King Charles’s birthday honors list and will soon be knighted. The Sun reported that Beckham will officially become Sir David Beckham.

His wife, fashion designer and former Spice Girls member Victoria Beckham, will now be known as Lady Beckham.

David Beckham, who celebrated his 50th birthday in May, has developed a close relationship with the monarch in recent years.

Beckham was made an OBE in 2003, receiving an honorary medal from the late Queen Elizabeth II. However, a knighthood was out of his reach for many years. The ban was caused by complications with some tax transactions and a series of leaked emails released in 2017 in which Beckham complained about the honorary committee using offensive language.

But time has put everything in its place. Last year, Beckham was appointed an official ambassador for the Royal Foundation, and his public reputation, charitable work, and impeccable sporting career eventually led him to the long-awaited title.

The official list of royal awards will be published next week.
