German Bosch factories are closing due to the economic crisis, Bild reports.
Due to problems in the construction industry and a lack of customers, two Bosch factories in Sebnitz (Saxony) and Linfelden-Echterdingen (Baden-Württemberg) will be closed against the backdrop of the current economic crisis.
The products will be produced at other plants, such as Miskolc (Hungary).
As a result of these changes, more than 500 employees in Germany will lose their jobs.
Thomas Donato, head of the Bosch Power Tools division, commented: “This decision is difficult for us. The current cost-cutting and efficiency-increasing programs are no longer producing the desired results.”
The company is also implementing other job reduction programs, which could threaten thousands of employees. Trade unions have announced that they will actively resist the closure of factories and have already announced protests.
