A monumental exhibition titled “Marc Chagall; The Language of Images” has opened at the Picasso Museum in Münster, western Germany, to mark the 40th anniversary of the Russian, Belarusian, and French artist's death. The exhibition’s organizers have emphasized the interrelationship of literature and fine arts in Chagall’s work.
Throughout his life, Chagall worked “with words and sounds,” which was reflected in his works.
American writer Henry Miller called Chagall “a poet with the wings of a painter.”
For his part, Chagall admitted that painting replaced “a lack of words” in his life.
