James Bond writers fight over the name for 007 agent

The Guardian reports that the owners of the multi-billion dollar James Bond franchise are fighting to retain control of the super agent's name.

The Dubai-based developer has filed lawsuits against the UK and Europe over using the trademark in various fields.

Several variations of the super agent's name, including "Special Agent 007 James Bond"," "James Bond 007"," "James Bond," James Bond: The World of Spy," and the famous phrase "Bond, James Bond," are being challenged for trademark protection.

The lawsuit concerns using "James Bond" across various goods and services. These include car models, computer programs, electronic comics, electronic publishing, and design, which include applications such as restaurants, cocktail bar services, and residential premises.

The EU applications were filed on 27 January. Although no information is given on the timing of the UK applications, they are also likely to have been filed recently, as the cases are said to be "pending protection."
