Reuters reports that American consumers' prices at Temu, Shein, and Amazon Haul are likely to rise. The report cites US President Donald Trump's decision to close a trade loophole that allowed cheap parcels from China to avoid paying tariffs.
These online stores have grown and expanded in the US largely thanks to the "de minimis" exemption, which allowed them to keep prices low.
"This is a critical issue for Temu, Shein, and Amazon Haul because the de minimis exemption was one of the incentives that allowed them to offer low prices and ensure fast access to goods," said Juozas Kaziukenas, director of e-commerce data company Marketplace Pulse.
