A price tag of 100 pounds has been set for a pineapple pizza.

A trendy pizzeria in Norwich, UK, has decided to “declare war” on pineapple by charging a whopping £100 ($123) for a pineapple pizza. The company hopes this will scare away customers and discourage the controversial addition.

Lupa Pizza recently added a ham and pineapple pizza to its menu, and its food delivery app described it as follows: “Yes, for £100, you can get it. Order champagne, too. Well, do it, you freaks.”

“We are absolutely against pineapple on pizza,” said Lupa co-owner Francis Wolf, adding: “We don’t think it’s pizza-worthy at all.”

The other co-owner, Chef Quin Jianoran, said the restaurant keeps canned pineapple in stock in case someone orders it, but it hasn’t happened yet.

According to a January 2024 survey by British polling and research firm YouGov, more than 50% of Britons either like or dislike pineapple on pizza, 16% dislike it, and almost 20% hate it.
