NASA has announced that a spacecraft studying the sun's outer atmosphere has recently come closer to the star of our system.
The US space agency announced on December 24 that its Parker Solar Probe spacecraft passed within 6.1 million kilometers of the Sun's outer corona.
NASA Deputy Administrator Nikki Fox praised the latest flight to the sun.
"Flying so close to the sun is a historic moment," he said.
The Parker Solar Probe is believed to have developed up to 692 Hz per hour during the flight. At Km/h, NASA said it was "faster than any human-made object has ever moved."
