American Claudia Goldin received the Nobel Prize in Economics for studying the place and role of women in the labor market. BBC reports concerning the Swedish Academy of Sciences.
"His research reveals the reasons for the change in that role and points out the main obstacles to gender equality," the academy said.
Goldin became the third woman to win the Nobel Prize in Economics in 55 years.
