On Tuesday, on his official website, Harper Collins, the world-famous publisher of the English explanatory dictionary, named "permacrisis" as the word of 2022.
The dictionary compilers describe this as "a long period of instability and unstable situation." They explained their choice, saying it “briefly and accurately sums up how awful 2022 was for many people."
In addition, "Harper Collins" selected nine more words that most accurately describe the current year, considering both domestic and international events. Thus, the word "Kyiv" refers to the conflict in Ukraine, and the scandal that arose in Downing Street (the residence of the British Prime Minister), which led to the resignation of Boris Johnson's government, the concept of "partygate."
