Famous actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa  has died

Japanese-American actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa has died at the age of 75. He was known for his roles in The Last Emperor, Mortal Kombat, and Memoirs of a Geisha.

The actor died Thursday morning in Santa Barbara, California, surrounded by his children, from complications of a stroke.

Tagawa is best known to the general public as the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat.

His film debut was Bernardo Bertolucci's The Last Emperor (1987), which won nine Oscars.

He later starred in several popular films, many of which explore the intersection of Asian and Western cultures: Pearl Harbor, Planet of the Apes, Memoirs of a Geisha, 47 Ronin, and others. In those roles, the actor often used his martial arts skills.
