"Komitas" International Conference-Festival has started

On the occasion of the 156th anniversary of the birth of the great poet Komitas, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the staff of the Komitas Museum-Institute, intellectuals, and artists visited the Komitas Pantheon. They laid flowers at the grave of the great poet.

Next, the exhibition "Letters from Villejuif" (Komitas Gevorgyan's collection) was opened at the Komitas Museum-Institute. Documents and letters related to the last years of Komitas' life were presented, providing an opportunity to illuminate the little-studied pages of the great poet's biography from a new perspective, as well as to reveal several details related to Komitas' personality and activities.

The "Komitas" international conference-festival has also been launched at the museum, which is held annually from September 26 to October 8, coinciding with Komitas' birthday in both the old and new calendars.

The conference is attended by musicologists from various countries around the world, as well as representatives from related scientific branches, who present their research. The topic encompasses multiple aspects of Komitas' life and work, including medieval studies, musical folklore, and compositional art. Discussions will take place within the framework of the conference, and new ideas will be presented and discussed.

During the festival, Komitas' music, music of his time, as well as medieval and ethnic music from various nations, will be performed.
