The 9th Armenian Contemporary Music Festival kicks off

With the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the initiative of the "Support to the Composers' Union of Armenia" Foundation and the Composers' Union of Armenia, the 9th Armenian Contemporary Music Festival, entitled "Dilijan Days," will be held on September 26-28 at the Ludwig van Beethoven Concert Hall of the Edward Mirzoyan Composers' Creative House in Dilijan. The events begin at 6:00 PM. Admission is free.

The festival's supporting partner is the "Green Rock" Foundation.

The Gyumri State Symphony Orchestra, Vanadzor Chamber Orchestra, and the Dilijan State College of Arts choir, led by Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia, maestro Ruben Asatryan, will perform within the framework of the festival. The festival will feature soloists Vache Hoveyan (viola), Anahit Dilbaryan (piano), Ani Rubenyan (swi), Nune Danielyan (canon), Lida Baghramyan (flute), Maria Khandanyan (soprano), and Eduard Makaryan (saxophone).

The festival will feature performances dedicated to the anniversaries of renowned composers: Alexander Achemyan (100th anniversary), Alexander Harutyunyan (105th anniversary), Ghazaros Saryan (105th anniversary), Gevorg Armenyan (105th anniversary), Edgar Hovhannisyan (95th anniversary), Khachatur Martirosyan (80th anniversary), Armenuhi Karapetyan (60th anniversary), Vard Manukyan (70th anniversary).

During the festival, works by contemporary Armenian composers, including Aram Satyan, President of the Armenian Composers' Union; David Halajyan; Narine Zarifyan; Haykuhi Hakobyan; Zhirayr Shahrimanyan; Khachatur Martirosyan; Karen Ananyan; and Edmond Makaryan, will also be performed.

On September 27, a master class-lecture will be held at the Composers' Creative House, featuring the participation of leading composers from the Armenian Composers' Union, for students of the Dilijan art and music schools. It is worth noting that the 9th Armenian Contemporary Music Festival was established in 2014 and has become one of the leading platforms for contemporary Armenian music, offering a wide range of opportunities for composers to present their works. At the same time, the festival continues to introduce the music-loving public to the music of contemporary composers. The festival unites the best musical groups and soloists of the republic, emphasizing its mission to support the new generation of musicians and bring them to the big stage.
