"It was very moving to know that from today on, once and for all, Aznavour will be here, in this square," said Charles Aznavour's son, Nicolas Aznavour, during the unveiling ceremony of the statue of chansonnier Charles Aznavour.
"My father was in love with Armenia; he loved Armenia passionately. He carried Armenia in his heart and represented it on all the world's platforms. He believed in the strength, the courage, and the culture of this country; he believed in the future of this country. That is why he was very encouraging for us, his family, to come and settle here, to live here, so that we could continue his involvement, his commitment, so that we could live and make his ideals a reality," he said.
