Filming of the new "Harry Potter" series has begun

In July 2025, Warner Bros. studio began filming a new multi-part screen adaptation of the Harry Potter saga, commissioned by HBO. Filming is taking place at Leavesden Film Studios in the United Kingdom.

The project promises to be the most significant adaptation of the books by J.K. Rowling. Each of the seven seasons will fully correspond to one book. The premiere of the first season is scheduled for 2027.

11-year-old Scottish actor-debutante Dominic McLaughlin will play the role of Harry Potter. His candidacy was selected after casting votes from more than 30,000 children.

In the first official shot of the series, McLaughlin appeared in a Hogwarts uniform, with the famous scythe-like spike on his forehead and round glasses.

"The 'Harry Potter' series is already in production," the creators announced on social media.
