The exhibition “In the Heart of the Heart” by renowned artist Narek Avetisyan occurred.
The “In the Heart of the Heart” project comprises two main series: small-format digital prints and large canvases (200x180 cm).
The digital prints incorporate image distortions reminiscent of the photorealistic style of German artist Gerhard Richter. They are visual expressions of postmodern simulation, where images are deliberately distorted. The artist uses them to show the loss of individuality, even in the divine, emphasizing that mass copying and digital copies are devoid of the original charm.
Meanwhile, the large canvases are created in oil paint using the multi-layered impasto technique.
The large canvases aim to restore a person’s true feelings and emotions. Each painting expresses the artist’s vision, emphasizing the importance of self-expression and authorial truth in a world full of simulations. The multi-layered textures and expressive colors, interacting with light, evoke a deep emotional response in the viewer.
If digital works represent a cold, rational approach, the large canvases emphasize human warmth and feelings. Narek Avetisyan was inspired by the idea of Grigor Narekatsi’s “In the Heart of the Heart,” deepening the inner dialogue of man with the spiritual and divine, and that is precisely what he titled his exhibition, also large the series of paintings.
