English writer Samantha Harvey received the 2024 Booker Prize for the novel "Guide." It tells the story of a day in the life of six astronauts aboard the International Space Station.
The award ceremony took place in London, and this year, the British writer and artist Edmund de Waal headed the jury. He said the team unanimously preferred Samantha Harvey's novel.
"Sometimes you come across a book and can't understand how this wonderful event happened. As a jury, we were determined to find a book that would move us and that we would want to share," he said.
It should be noted that fiction works by writers of any nationality, written in English and published last year in the United Kingdom or Ireland, can claim this award. The award has been awarded since 1969.
