The head of the Institute of National Memory of Ukraine, Anton Drobovych, announced that the National Commission for Rehabilitation in Ukraine officially acquitted Sergei Parajanov, who was convicted of rape 50 years ago.
He also said that the decision on Parajanov's rehabilitation was made on December 20, 2023.
The decision of the National Commission states that, after a detailed analysis of the director's criminal case and other archival documents, it was found that Parajanov was persecuted and convicted for political reasons.
