The most exciting episodes of the history of the Union of Composers of Armenia were presented

In the exhibition dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Union of Composers of Armenia, which was opened on October 7 at the "Youth" station of the Yerevan metro, it is possible to get acquainted with the history of the creation of the union, the administrative building, the construction of the creative house complex named after Edward Mirzoyan in Dilijan, concerts and other important events.

According to "Armenpress," the president of the Union of Composers, Aram Satyan, compared the union to a 90-year-old "young man," noting that this is one of the reasons why the jubilee exhibition is opening at the "Youth" station. According to him, people should get to know famous Armenian composers and young creators whose works are heard worldwide, and the exhibition can contribute to that.

"Composers create for the sake of the motherland, write songs, great symphonic works for the sake of the motherland. Our weapon is our music, which today directs citizens to move forward and believe, and music should have a positive emotion. Both today and the future are expressed in music," Satyan emphasized.

Edmond Makaryan, composer, and head of the union's concert organization department, reminded me that the jubilee year was filled with multi-content events, concert programs, festivals, and competitions. He emphasized that one of their goals is to revive, rebuild and give a new breath to the creative house of Dilijan. For this purpose, several concerts were organized there, which will continue next year.

"24 exhibits are presented, and the exhibition was organized within the Art in the Metro project framework. The Metro makes every effort for our beloved passengers to use the time spent in the station complex to their advantage, getting acquainted with interesting exhibits and reading information. We always support such projects, and our doors are open to all artists," said Babken Sedrakyan, acting director of the Yerevan Metro.

Ara Khzmalyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, was also present at the exhibition's opening. He believes it is difficult to find a place with such a large flow of people. "I hope that this exhibition will be the beginning of a much bigger and long-lasting process. In 2023-2024, there are anniversaries of famous events and famous artists. I think that for some time, we can call each metro station after them and show exhibitions dedicated to the life and activities of the elders," stressed the deputy minister.

According to him, culture should leave the vaults of museums and exhibition halls and enter people's everyday lives. We often complain that in this or that place, there are posters with anti-cultural content, etc.; you should not complain; you should do the opposite. We need to saturate our environment with positive content," Khzmalyan emphasized.

The deputy minister also referred to the cultural events organized in the conditions of border tension and noted that the stress affects public sentiments, and cultural initiatives, concerts, and performances require a good mood and optimism. "Any border shock has an immediate effect on audience attendance, but we have instructed all the structures operating under our authority to cancel events only in the most extreme cases when tickets are returned en masse when there is a serious problem with audience attendance. Even with 20 spectators, the event should take place. We should not allow public life to be paralyzed," he concluded.

The jubilee exhibition was opened with the efforts of the Union of Composers of Armenia, the National Archives of Armenia, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Armenia, and the Karen Demirchyan Yerevan Metro.
