AFP reported that Panama and the United States have signed an agreement under which Panama allows the US military to conduct military exercises in the canal area.
Under the new agreement, US troops can temporarily station at several facilities along the Panama Canal for personnel training, maneuvers, and other activities. However, the US will not have the right to build new military facilities in the strait area.
