A humanitarian aid ship with 400 tons of cargo left Cyprus for Gaza

A much-needed batch of food aid for Gaza was sent from Cyprus on Saturday, weeks after humanitarian efforts in the besieged enclave were severely disrupted by an Israeli warplane strike that killed seven workers at the world's central kitchen.

The ship "Jennifer" was headed to the Israeli port of Ashdod from the port of Larnaca in Cyprus, according to Mohenad Itaim, head of the ANERA emergency response team on the West Coast. CNN reported that the 400 tons of humanitarian aid would be inspected by Israeli security forces upon arrival. From there, it would be loaded onto trucks that would head south to the Kerem Shalom border crossing and then into Gaza.
