The authorities of Georgia refused to negotiate a strategic partnership with the USA

The US Ambassador to Georgia, Robin Dunnigan, stated that the Georgian government refused to discuss the issues of American aid directly with high-ranking US leaders.

"Recently, we have invited high-ranking members of the Georgian government to directly cooperate with high-ranking officials of the United States to discuss our strategic partnership and any issues with the help of the United States. "Unfortunately, the Georgian side chose not to accept that invitation," Dunigan said. The ambassador noted that the decisions taken by the government of Georgia in recent weeks have "moved the country away from its Euro-Atlantic future." "The ruling "Georgian Dream" shows determination to adopt a law on foreign agents, which, according to the EU's clear statement, is incompatible with Georgia's aspirations to join the EU," the diplomat reminded.
