The US, UK and EU pressure the UAE over trade with Russia

Reuters reports, citing sources, that officials of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union have pressured the United Arab Emirates (UAE) because of its trade cooperation with Russia. According to the agency, Western countries fear that Arab companies may partially supply Russian goods.

Reuter's interviewees said that several Western officials visited the UAE last week, where they held several meetings with local authorities. They asked the representatives of the UAE to share data on the export and re-export of dual-purpose goods to Russia. They also asked for information about the supervision of companies working in free economic zones. Western officials are interested in supplying computer chips, electronics, equipment, and other goods used in the military.
