Air France suspends flights to Burkina Faso and Mali

French airline Air France suspends air traffic with Burkina Faso and Mali. The reason is the support of those countries for the military coup in Niger.

According to press reports, France has suspended all development aid and budget support for Burkina Faso.

The announcement came after Burkina Faso's military government said it would consider any armed intervention against the coup leaders in neighboring Niger a declaration of war.

The military government of Mali adopted the same position.

The Wall Street Journal newspaper, quoting a senior official of one of the ECOWAS countries, writes that the region's armed forces need more time to prepare for the invasion of Niger.
