The report of the US State Department referred to the activities of HRD

The US Department of State's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor has published a report on the state of human rights in Armenia in 2023, which addresses the situation and highlights challenges and developments.

The report referred to the deportation of more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians from Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia after the military operations carried out by Azerbaijan to gain complete control over Nagorno-Karabakh from September 24 to October 1 and the blocking of the Lachine Corridor between Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. Special attention was paid to issues of human rights violations in various fields.

The report referred to the activities of the Human Rights Defender, emphasizing the institution's independent activities in 2023. The report stated: "The Human Rights Office is authorized to protect persons exercising their rights and fundamental freedoms from the abuses of state bodies at all levels. The HRD office acted independently and provided effective protection in individual cases."
