1918 On May 28, after the collapse of the Transcaucasian Democratic Federal Republic in Tiflis, the Armenian National Council proclaimed the Armenian Republic (Republic of Armenia).
Hovhannes Kajaznuni became the first prime minister of independent Armenia. The tricolor red, blue, and orange were adopted as the national flag of Armenia. On the anniversary of independence, May 28, 1919, the government, already headed by Alexander Khatisyan, declared Armenia an Independent and United Republic.
