"Television has tried to stay true to its calling to educate and teach." President of RA

RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan sent a congratulatory message on the Day of the Television Worker.

"Dear employees of Armenian television, I heartily congratulate you on the day of the television work. Sixty-six years ago, on this day, the Public Television Company took its first step. This event marked a turning point from the perspectives of culture, the public, politics, and, more broadly, all domains associated with daily societal life.

Television itself opened up new horizons for journalism, publicity, politics, and almost all directions of art, and it claimed to become a kind of art in its own right. The path of establishment of Armenian television during the past seven decades has been full of ups and downs, achievements, and, of course, difficulties, overcoming which has become a new achievement.

Armenian television has never been left out of its willingness to respond to the issues affecting Armenian society, the challenges facing our state, and passing through political and ideological censorship and stereotypes. At the same time, television has sought to live up to its mission of popularizing, educating, and teaching the arts and culture.

Today, it is almost impossible to imagine what kind of courage was the decision of the Armenian television company to broadcast live the session of the Supreme Council of Armenia on June 15, 1988. It is no less difficult to assess what a significant cultural event was the appearance of the film opera "Anoush" in 1983 or the creation of the Television and Radio Symphony Orchestra, whose artistic director was Ohan Duryan.

We can list the milestones and achievements of the establishment of Armenian television for a long time. Still, the most important thing is that we should appreciate and give credit to the television workers of all times, those who stood at the foundation of these achievements and development with unfailing dedication.

Dear employees of Armenian Television, I congratulate you again and wish you new professional success, good health, and personal happiness."
