After it was decided to install a road scale in Sisian, and when the RA Urban Planning, Technical and Fire Safety Inspection Authority started weighing trucks, problems arose with transportation from Iran to Armenia. For several days now, truck drivers have complained that they are not allowed to move forward with vehicles loaded with more than 26 tons. The weight of trucks coming to Armenia from the Iranian side exceeds 26 tons, reaching 28.
In a conversation with Radar Armenia, Elena Zohrabyan, press secretary of the RA Urban Planning, Technical and Fire Safety Inspection Body, referring to the complaints of drivers, noted that the inspection body implements the procedure for weighing heavy-duty and large-wheelbase transport vehicles according to the decision of the RA government adopted back in 2006.
"According to the RA government's decision, the maximum dimensions and masses of large transport vehicles have been approved. 26 tons specifically refers to mechanical transport means with three axles, each axle must have a pair of tires, and the load on each axle of a pair of tires must not exceed 9.5 tons. The weight of the total means of transportation is 26 tons," Zohrabyan explained and noted that they are aware of the complaint. According to her, the inspection body is a controlling body that fulfills the requirements of the decision and carries out the weighing process.
